{Genesis 31:19} And Laban 3837 went 1980 z8804 to shear 1494 z8800 x853 his sheep: 6629 and Rachel 7354 had stolen 1589 z8799 x853 the images 8655 that x834 [were] her father's. 1
images:
Heb. teraphim, "And now, [though] thou wouldest needs be gone, because thou sore longedst after thy father's house, [yet] wherefore hast thou stolen my gods?" {Gen 31:30} + "With whomsoever thou findest thy gods, let him not live: before our brethren discern thou what [is] thine with me, and take [it] to thee. For Jacob knew not that Rachel had stolen them." {Gen 31:32} + "Then Jacob said unto his household, and to all that [were] with him, Put away the strange gods that [are] among you, and be clean, and change your garments:" {Gen 35:2} + "And Joshua said unto all the people, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Your fathers dwelt on the other side of the flood in old time, [even] Terah, the father of Abraham, and the father of Nachor: and they served other gods." {Jsh 24:2} + "Yet he restored the money unto his mother; and his mother took two hundred [shekels] of silver, and gave them to the founder, who made thereof a graven image and a molten image: and they were in the house of Micah. ... And the man Micah had an house of gods, and made an ephod, and teraphim, and consecrated one of his sons, who became his priest." {Jdg 17:4-5} + "Then answered the five men that went to spy out the country of Laish, and said unto their brethren, Do ye know that there is in these houses an ephod, and teraphim, and a graven image, and a molten image? now therefore consider what ye have to do. ... And he said, Ye have taken away my gods which I made, and the priest, and ye are gone away: and what have I more? and what [is] this [that] ye say unto me, What aileth thee?" {Jdg 18:14-24} + "And they set them up Micah's graven image, which he made, all the time that the house of God was in Shiloh." {Jdg 18:31} + "And Michal took an image, and laid [it] in the bed, and put a pillow of goats' [hair] for his bolster, and covered [it] with a cloth." {1Sm 19:13} + "For the king of Babylon stood at the parting of the way, at the head of the two ways, to use divination: he made [his] arrows bright, he consulted with images, he looked in the liver." {Ezk 21:21} + "For the children of Israel shall abide many days without a king, and without a prince, and without a sacrifice, and without an image, and without an ephod, and [without] teraphim:" {Hsa 3:4}; These might have been images devoted to superstitious or idolatrous purposes, as they are termed gods by Laban, in "And now, [though] thou wouldest needs be gone, because thou sore longedst after thy father's house, [yet] wherefore hast thou stolen my gods?" {Gen 31:30}. The Targums of Onkelos and Jonathan render it, tzalmanaya, "images;" the LXX and Theodoret, ειδολον [Strong's G1497], "idols;" Aquilla, μορφωματα, "figures;" and the Persian, asterlabha, "astrolabes."
